"Microsoft is seeing signs that it is beginning to establish itself within the market for smartphone operating system software. Motorola has introduced a new clam-shell model running Microsoft software and will introduce two more models before end-2004. Orange, AT&T Wireless and Verizon Wireless are among the mobile phone operators which are offering handsets which use the Microsoft software. Ben Wood, analyst with research company Gartner, said to Wall Street Journal Europe the deal with Motorola gives Microsoft more credibility within the mobile phone software market.
